Standard of the Sultan

The white personal standard used by Sultan Hussain was retained by Temenggong Ibrahim and Sultan Abu Bakar made with some adjustments. He included a crescent and a blue nine-pointed star in the middle. The addition was made in 1871 to denote the highest ranking position of the state.

Abu Bakar choose blue to reflect the natural enviroment of a blue sky. Blue denotes sovereignty

The standard was made out of pure silk and is tied to the pole made of high-quality silver and is part of the state regalia.
