Royal Umbrellas

Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar made four umbrellas, two large and two small umbrellas as a traditional symbol of protection for  the Sultan. Unlike other states, the Johor Ceremonial Umbrellas are white, which is the colour of the sovereign. The Big Umbrella measures 2.1 metres (83 inches) and the Small Umbrella is 1.8 metres (71 inches). Both umbrellas are made out of white silk and stitched with the symbol of the Crown. The handles are made out of silver, surmounted with enamel replicas of the Crown.
